The church in San Pedro de Macoris, with an attendance of approximately 130 people, has a vital ministry to the destitute children and families in the Dominican Republic. The congregation conducts a weekly outreach to the community’s poor. They also minister to several hundred impoverished people from nearby Haiti – refugees who cannot find employment and live in makeshift homes. The church’s pastor, Claudia Santana, also serves as Open Bible’s field director for the country.
In 2009, Women’s Ministries in the U.S. raised funds for the San Pedro congregation to build a feeding kitchen, now located next to the church. The U.S. MOVE (Men of Vision Evangelize) construction team built a new church facility for the well-deserving church in January 2010.
