National Project: Samaritan Women’s Center

Samaritan Women’s Center (La Dona Samaritana) in Lleida, Spain, is a shelter for battered women that also accepts abused children. It offers :

• physiological therapy
• counseling for trauma victims of abuse
• education
• work training
• legal advice
• a refuge for teen runaways and prostitutes
• food for needy neighbors

Goal: $25,000

Pastor Ferran Jove of the Open Bible Church in Lleida, Spain, started the center eight years ago. Local hospitals, police, and other law enforcement personnel contact Jove when they see a woman or child whose life is in danger. As of today, La Dona Samaritana is the only center for battered women in Spain. Many of the women and children accept Christ during their stay at the center.
